The ice water mixture is mainly composedof tiny ice crystals and water.  the size of the ice crystalsis between 0.1 mm and 0.5 mm. The ice slurry contains of icecrystals about 30-60% , which is soft and muddy. It can completelywrap the seafood and even flow into the interior of theseafood.

冰浆具有储存运输方便，保鲜速度快，保鲜效果好等优点:

冰浆的温度在-2—  -5度之间，这个温度是佳的冷藏温度，对被冻物的细胞组织没有损伤；由于是冰水混合物，流动性好，被保鲜物之间不会互相摩擦而伤及到被冻物体；流态冰的冰晶在0.1-0.25mm之间，柔软性能特别的好，手感绵柔，可以进入被冻物（鱼，虾等）内部；

由于是海水直接制冰，大大的降低了带冰块的运行成本；冰浆给物体的降温速度是粉碎冰快及片冰的15-20倍。许多先进国家都在研究流态冰，并得到广泛运用，现在国际上对名贵鱼品要求越来越高，都是采用流态冰进行保鲜运输。
