冰浆机又称海水流态冰机,可将海水制成流动的冰水混合物。冰水混合物主要由微小的冰晶与水组成,冰晶的大小在0.25mm~0.5mm之间。冰浆的含冰量在30~60%之间,呈柔软的泥浆状,可以很好的包裹海产品,甚至可以流进到海产品的内部。

由于是海水直接制冰,大大的降低了带冰块的运行成本;冰浆给物体的降温速度是粉碎冰快及片冰的15-20倍。许多先进国家都在研究流态冰,并得到广泛运用,现在国际上对名贵鱼品要求越来越高,所以都是采用流态冰进行保鲜运输。
