RENOLIN MRMultipurpose Lubricating Oil for Bearings, Gearboxes andHydraulic SystemsEngine oils have to perform many differentfunctions. They not only have to lubricate, i.e. reduce frictionand wear but also to keep the machines clean, inhibit corrosion, seal and cool. In many cases only one of these functions isemphasized while the others are neglected. But one must actuallyconsider all of these functions along with their interactions. Theplaces were most wear and soiling takes place in an engine are thecylinder walls, pistons, rings, valves, distributor and oil pumpdrives, camshafts, tappets, rockers, all bearings and the sump. Anoil must withstand a number of physical conditions, the mostimportant of which being temperature. An oil is expected to performsatisfactorily from - 40 to + 300°C and in some conditions evenabove this temperature without losing its efficiency. The oil in anengine is mechanically contaminated by combustion residues (soot),abraded metal particles, dust and sand and chemically affected byoxygen, acids and water. The question is: Are these tasks andrequirements only applicable to engine oils? and the answer is: No,all machinery lubricants have to fulfil similar requirements. Ofcourse, the particular emphasis reflects the application inquestion. The special RENOLIN MR oils are lubricants which satisfythe diversity of such applications. RENOLIN MR oils weredeveloped over 30 years ago but are still among the leadinghydraulic and lubricating oils currently available. This is proofof the quality of these oils as well as confirmation of theforesight of FUCHS R + D laboratories which first developed thesedetergent hydraulic oils. The RENOLIN MR series of oils offer thefollowing advantages:Multipurpose lubricating oils Excellentcorrosion protection (characteristics of conservation oils aregiven) Excellent cleaning and sludge transportationproperties Friction and wear reducing Good resistance toageingApplication:RENOLIN MR multipurpose lubricating oils arerecommended for the running-in of machinery, for functional testsand for operational lubrication. When factory-filled, RENOLIN MRoils guarantee running-in free of undue wear and seizures inaddition to complete protection of machinery internals againstcorrosion even in difficult conditions such as overseas shipment. Afurther advantage is that the factory-filled oil can remain in themachine all the way through to the first routine oil changeinterval. If the machinery cannot be delivered factory-filled, theRENOLIN MR oil film remaining after the functional test offers goodcorrosion protection to all wetted surfaces. When used for normaloperation, RENOLIN MR oils reduce wear, avoid stick-slip orfrictional vibration and protect against corrosion. Furthermore, they ensure that oil circuits remain clean.RENOLIN MR oils aretherefore recommended for machinery with low speed movements, if agood wetting film between cylinders and sealing elements isrequired as well as when machinery is exposed to unfavourableatmospheric conditions such as large temperature fluctuations andthus condensation formation, air-borne dust such as in foundries,in cement manufacturing plants or on construction sites and lastbut by no means least, for machine tools especially ifwater-miscible cutting fluids are used.RENOLIN MR 0, MR 1 and MR 3are heavy-duty spindle oils recommended for machine tools andtextile machinery. RENOLIN MR 0 especially for grinding machinespindles rotating faster than 2,000 rpm. RENOLIN MR 1 for machinetool spindles turning between 600 and 2,000 rpm and for textilemachine spindles revolving faster than 10,000 rpm. RENOLIN MR 3 formachine tool spindles turning under 600 rpm and for textile machinespindles revolving slower than 10,000 rpm.RENOLIN MR 5, RENOLIN MR10, RENOLIN MR 15, are heavy-duty hydraulic oils capable ofwithstanding continuous temperatures of over 100°C, even up to120°C for short periods. They are recommended by leadingmanufacturers of hydraulic equipment and in some cases,factory-filled.RENOLIN MR 10 is also suitable for power steeringsystems. RENOLIN MR 10, RENOLIN MR 15 and RENOLIN MR 20 arerecommended for medium-duty transmissions, in particular thosefitted with electromagnetic, multiple clutches. RENOLIN MR 30 andRENOLIN MR 40 are recommended for heavy-dutytransmissions.RENOLIN MR 0MR 1MR 3MR 5MR 10MR 15MR 20MR 30MR40 Hydraulic oiltype acc.to ISO 6743-41 HM 10HM 22HM 32HM 46HM 68HM 100HM150 acc. to DIN 51 5021 HLPD10HLPD 22HLPD32HLPD 46HLPD 68HLPD100 CharacteristicsUnit TestmethodColour 11111112.53.5ASTM D 1500Kinematicviscosity at40 °Cmm2/s2.24.89.522354970102146ASTM D 445at 100°Cmm2/s11.62.64.35.87.5911.214.2ASTM D 445Viscosityindex ––-1001071161029595ASTM D 2270Density at 15°Ckg/l0.8250.8430.860.8780.8830.8840.8850.8920.898ASTM D 1298Flashpoint, Cleveland open cup°C75850225230250ASTM D 92Pourpoint°C– 42- 36- 30– 30– 30– 27– 27– 21- 18ASTM D 97NeutralizationnumbermgKOH/g 0.7 ASTM D974Saponification numbermgKOH/g 2.4 ASTM D94Oxide ash%mass 0.27 ASTM D482Water content ASTM D 95% massnot traceablenot traceablenottraceablenot traceablenot traceablenot traceablenot traceablenottraceablenot traceable Insolubles DIN 51 592% massnottraceablenot traceablenot traceablenot traceablenot traceablenottraceablenot traceablenot traceablenottraceable Demulsificationminnon demulsifyingnondemulsifyingnon demulsifyingnon demulsifyingnon demulsifyingnondemulsifyingnon demulsifyingnon demulsifyingnon demulsifyingDIN 51599Air release at 50 °Cmin1124710122030ASTM D3427Foaming, seq.Iml< 30/0< 30/0< 30/0< 30/0< 30/0< 30/0<30/0< 30/0< 30/0ASTM D 892 seq.
