This standard specifies a combustion method for thedetermination of halogen and sulfur contents in materials bycombustion in a closed system containing oxygen (calorimetricbomb), and the subsequent analysis of the combustion product usingdifferent analytical techniques. This method is applicable tosolid, pasty and liquid samples containing more than 0,025 g/kg ofhalogen and/or 0,025 g/kg of sulfur content. The limit of detectiondepends on the element, the matrix and the determination techniqueused. Insoluble halides and sulphate present in the sample orproduced during the combustion step are not completely determinedby these methods.
