2016 Revision/Update to F963
After five years of work by hundreds of experts on thecommittee, F963 was updated in 2016.
Among the changes, the 2016 revision addresses ride-on toyswith: a new curb impact requirement, a clarification of overloadand stability requirements, and a strap exemption.
F963 also adds:
new labeling requirements for toys that have certain smallcoin/button batteries,temperature and current-limiting requirementsfor lithium-ion batteries, and new requirements for materials andtoys that could expand if accidentally swallowed.
Other revisions include:
new soaking and compression tests for magnets new requirementsandclarifications related to microbiological safety;clarificationstoheavy elements requirements for toy substrate materials revisedre-quirements for toys involving projectiles; and, clarification ofrequirements and supplemental guidance for impacthazards.
