提单的功能 提单具有以下三项主要功能：
Functions of a Bill of Lading A bill of lading has the followingthree main functions:
（1）提单是证明承运人已接管货物和货物已装船的货物收据 对于将货物交给承运人运输的托运人，提单具有货物收据的功能。不仅对于已装船货物，承运人负有签发提单的义务，而且根据托运人的要求，即使货物尚未装船，只要货物已在承运人掌管之下，承运人也有签发一种被称为“收货待运提单”的义务。
(1) The bill of lading is the receipt of the goods that thecarrier has taken over and the goods have been loaded on board. Forthe shipper who delivers the goods to the carrier, the bill oflading has the function of the receipt of the goods. 所以，提单一经承运人签发，即表明承运人已将货物装上船舶或已确认接管。 提单作为货物收据，不仅证明收到货物的种类、数量、标志、外表状况，而且还证明收到货物的时间，即货物装船的时间。

本来，签发提单时，只要能证明已收到货物和货物的状况即可，并不一定要求已将货物装船。但是，将货物装船象征卖方将货物交付给买方，于是装船时间也就意味着卖方的交货时间。而按时交货是履行合同的必要条件，因此，用提单来证明货物的装船间是非常重要的。
Originally, when a bill of lading is issued, as long as it canprove that the goods have been received and the condition of thegoods, it does not necessarily require that the goods have beenshipped. However, the shipping of goods indicates that the sellerhas delivered the goods to the buyer, so the shipping time alsomeans the seller's delivery time. And delivery on time is anecessary condition to fulfill the contract, therefore, it is veryimportant to prove the time of shipment by bill of lading.
