This Standard applies to hermetic refrigerant motor-compressors(hereinafter referred to as motor- compressors) rated 7200 V orless, for use in air-conditioning and refrigerating equipment thatcomply with the Standards applicable to such equipment.
This Standard also applies to motor protection systems that maybe provided with motor-compressors.
This Standard does not include additional requirementsapplicable to equipment designed for use in hazardous locations asdefined in the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-1 996, andthe Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. Thevalues given in parentheses are for information only.
