These requirements cover fluorescent self-ballasted lamps andfluorescent lamp adapters rated 1 20 volts nominal for use withEdison-base lampholders in incandescent lighting fixtures andportable electric lamps. These requirements do not cover medium-to-medium base (E26)fittings that incorporate controls such as photocells, motiondetectors, radio controls, or dimmers.
These devices are not intended for use with emergency exitfixtures or emergency exit lights.
A product having features, characteristics, components,materials, or systems new or different from those in use when theStandard was developed, and that involves a risk of fire, electricshock, or injury to persons, shall be evaluated using theappropriate additional component and end-product requirements asdetermined necessary to maintain the level of safety for the userof the product as originally anticipated by the intent of thisStandard.
